Space Foundation and International Space University Announce Partnership

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Space Foundation PR) — Space Foundation, a nonprofit advocate organization founded in 1983, today announced its partnership with the International Space University (ISU), a private non-profit institution, formally recognized as an institute of higher education in France by the French Ministry of Education. The partnership was revealed at a Memorandum of Understanding signing at the 37th Space Symposium at The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs, CO (USA).

  • Global launch attempts reached a record 145 in 2021, exceeding 143 in 1967

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Jan. 18, 2022 (Space Foundation PR) — Space Foundation, a nonprofit advocate organization founded in 1983 for the global space ecosystem, today released “The Space Report 2021 Q4,” which looks back at the historic level of launch activity that took place globally last year and breaks down orbital launch attempts by each spacefaring nation.

Summarizing the latest edition, Space Foundation CEO Tom Zelibor commented, “The space ecosystem has been buzzing with excitement about an emergent space renaissance for several years. This edition unequivocally validates that we have reached a new high point. I always say, ‘There is no better time to be a part of the space economy,’ and with record-breaking growth in 2021 and so many promising new initiatives already underway in 2022, that has never been a truer statement.”

Space Foundation Reschedules Space Symposium for October

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 2, 2020) — The Space Foundation issued a statement today announcing the 36th Space Symposium has been rescheduled for Oct. 31 through Nov. 2, 2020.  Hosted at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, the annual assembly of the world’s space community will gather leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs from the civil, commercial, military, research, and international sectors to share, explore, and partner on efforts that will impact our lives beyond Earth and upon it.

A Message from Our CEO

As a world and an industry, we are in the midst of a global health and economic crisis. While there may be uncertainty about how we will recover, there is no doubt that the same ingenuity, drive, and collaboration that serves our exploration and industrialization of space will lead us to a swift recovery.

In just the last weeks, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration cleared use of a new corona virus test that returns results four times faster than existing diagnostic machines. We’ve seen scientists from around the world share and integrate the genome sequences of dozens of corona virus strains to spur development of a vaccine — a result aided by the space and satellite technology that allows split-second global communication.
