Space Campus: The Future Center of Gravity of Luxembourg’s Space Ecosystem

The creation of a Space Campus is a major milestone since the launch of the SpaceResources initiative in 2016 with the creation of the Luxembourg Space Agency in 2018, the launch of the interdisciplinary master in space at the University of Luxembourg in 2019 and the creation, in 2020, of the European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC) based in Luxembourg.

LUXEMBOURG (Luxembourg Space Agency PR) — During a press conference held on August 3, 2022, the Minister of Economy, Franz Fayot, and the Minister of Higher Education and Research, Claude Meisch, presented the concept of the future Space Campus which goal is to create specific geographic areas in Luxembourg exclusively dedicated to space-related activities to ensure the competitive position of companies and public research organizations in this field.

Finalists Announced for Euroconsult’s 2021 Finspace Awards

Industry leading global strategy consultancy and market intelligence firm Euroconsult have announced the six companies that have been shortlisted for their 5th annual Finspace competition. Part of this year’s World Satellite Business Week, the Finspace initiative recognizes and celebrates the achievements of innovative startups from across the space sector.

PARIS, WASHINGTON D.C., MONTREAL, YOKOHAMA, SYDNEY, 6th October 2021 –Euroconsult’s Finspace pitch initiative was launched in 2017 as part of the company’s flagship World Satellite Business Week event and strives to showcase the most promising and innovative start-ups from across the space and satellite industry value chains. Six finalists have been selected for the 2021 awards from entries that were submitted from all across Europe, the United States, and Australia. Approximately one third of this year’s entries represented small launch development companies.

ODYSSEUS SPACE Teams With National Cheng Kung University on ARGO Pulse Plasma Thruster Propulsion System

TAINAN, Taiwan, December 26th 2018 (ODYSSEUS SPACE PR) – ODYSSEUS SPACE, a Taiwanese company developing innovative space technologies for small satellites, today announced a collaboration with NCKU, one of the leading engineering university in Taiwan and located in Tainan.

This joint R&D project for a total amount of 4.5M NTD [$146,711], funded by both ODYSSEUS Space and the Taiwanese Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) through the New SBIR program, is following a pre-study phase successfully delivered in 2018 and now aims at developing and testing a first prototype of an electrical propulsion system for small satellites.

ODYSSEUS Space Wins the SpaceResources.lu Challenge in ESA Space Exploration Masters Competition

BILBOA, SPAIN (Luxembourg Space Agency PR) — ODYSSEUS Space is the winner of the SpaceResources.lu challenge of the European Sprace Agency (ESA) Space Exploration Masters competition that awards the best business ideas for space exploration that also benefit society.

The award was handed over in Bilbao, Spain on October 30, 2018 within the frame of the ESA Space for Inspiration conference, an international conference organized by the ESA for everyone who is curious about space exploration and why it matters.

ispace to Announce Major Series A Investment Round

TOKYO — ispace, a Japanese start-up responsible for Team HAKUTO’s entry in the Google Lunar X Prize, is planning to announce “the largest fund raised in Series A in the global space industry” next week to support its efforts to mine the moon.

“It involves a round of significant financing and details around the next missions of ispace, planned after the currently run HAKUTO project,” according to an invitation sent to journalists.

UAE, Luxembourg Sign MOU on Space Exploration Cooperation

LUXEMBOURG, October 10, 2017 (Luxembourg PR) — Considering their common interest in the exploration, use and application of space for peaceful purposes, Luxembourg and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) jointly agreed on the opportunity to cooperate on space activities. The Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, represented by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Economy, Étienne Schneider, and the UAE, represented by the Minister of State for Higher Education and Chairman of the UAE Space Agency, Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, signed today in Abu Dhabi a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to start bilateral cooperation on space activities with particular focus on the exploration and utilization of space resources.

Luxembourg Signs MOU With Magna Parva Subsidiary

LUXEMBOURG, July 24, 2017 (Luxembourg Government PR) – The Luxembourg Government and Luxembourg-based Kleos Space S.à r.l. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) providing the framework for their cooperation within the SpaceResources.lu initiative with focus on space technology development. The newly created Kleos Space company is 100% owned by UK-based Magna Parva Limited.

Kleos Space is active in geolocation services and develops a space infrastructure for geo-intelligence and signal intelligence applications with in-space manufacturing. Within the framework of this MoU, the developments and research to take place in Luxembourg are related to the project for in-space manufacturing of composite beams equipped with antennas. Kleos Space will collaborate with EmTroniX, a Luxembourg-based company specialized in electronics development, as well as with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) on this subject. The Government will support the development of the in-space manufacturing technology by providing funding through the Luxembourg space program (LuxIMPULSE).

Luxembourg, ESA Enhance Cooperation on Asteroid Missions

PARIS (Luxembourg Government PR) — At the occasion of the 2017 Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Etienne Schneider visited the ESA pavilion and, together with ESA Director General, Jan Wörner, signed a joint statement on future activities concerning missions to the asteroids, related technologies and space resources exploration and utilisation.
