VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif., August 5, 2020 (Deloitte PR) — Leaders from the State of California, REACH, the 30^th Space Wing, Cal Poly State University and Deloitte today announced a commitment to develop a thriving spaceport at Vandenberg Air Force Base and the surrounding area. According to the memorandum of understanding, the parties will develop a master plan that identifies the required infrastructure, human capital development, governance and financing necessary to support the United States Space Force mission and position California as a global leader in the future of the commercial space industry.

WASHINGTON (AFNS) — Secretary of the Air Force Barbara Barrett unveiled the new, comprehensive  Department of the Air Force Arctic Strategy, July 21.

The strategy outlines the Department’s unique regional role and efforts to optimize Air and Space Force  capabilities throughout the region in support of the National Defense Strategy.

WASHINGTON (AFNS) — The U.S. Senate confirmed Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr., June 9 to be the 22^nd Air Force Chief of Staff, clearing the way for the decorated pilot and experienced commander to become the first African-American in history to lead a branch of the U.S. military as its highest-ranking officer.

The vote was 98-0.

In advance of the historic vote on his confirmation, Brown testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee during a hearing May 7. During the hearing, Brown pledged to ensure Air Force readiness to support the National Defense Strategy, if confirmed. “I am committed to the Air Force achieving irreversible momentum towards implementation of the National Defense Strategy and an integrated and more lethal joint force,” said Brown.

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo (U.S. Space Command PR) — U.S. Space Command reached a critical milestone as the Department of Defense’s 11th Combatant Command by finalizing the command’s campaign plan, which incorporates a new mission statement placing greater emphasis on preparing for, defending against and deterring threats.

The campaign plan provides guidance to USSPACECOM’s staff and components on day-to-day operations, activities and investments to achieve the command’s mission in support of DoD and national security objectives.
