Boeing and CASIS Award $500,000 for Microgravity Research Through MassChallenge

BOSTON, MA (Nov. 6, 2017) – The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) and Boeing [NYSE: BA] have again joined forces to promote the use of the International Space Station (ISS) as an orbiting laboratory capable of producing cutting-edge research across numerous scientific disciplines. The two organizations on Nov. 2 granted a total of $500,000 to three microgravity research companies through startup accelerator MassChallenge™.

The awards to Cellino Biotech, Guardion Technologies, and MakerHealth mark CASIS and Boeing’s fourth year of collaboration on the “Technology in Space” prize at MassChallenge Boston.

CASIS and Boeing Partner to Fund Three Companies for Space Station Research

(November 7, 2016) The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) and  Boeing  awarded three research companies financial support last week through MassChallenge™. This marks the third year CASIS and Boeing have collaborated on the “Technology in Space” prize through the MassChallenge Boston Accelerator.

CASIS is the nonprofit organization responsible for managing and promoting research onboard the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory. Boeing is the ISS prime contractor responsible for sustaining operations, including the successful integration of vehicle and payload hardware and software for the orbiting laboratory. The grant prizes for this collaboration will provide seed funding for the three awarded companies and assist with hardware costs for flight to the ISS National Lab.

CASIS, Boeing Partner on Entrepreneurial Space Station Research

casis_new_logoKENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FL., November 6, 2014 (CASIS PR) – The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) and The Boeing Company (Boeing) awarded three entrepreneurial researchers financial support through the MassChallenge Startup Accelerator. In April, both entities announced their intention to collaborate on the “Technology in Space” sidecar prize through MassChallenge. CASIS is the nonprofit organization responsible for managing and promoting research onboard the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory. Boeing is the ISS sustaining engineering contractor responsible for the successful integration of vehicle and payload hardware and software for the orbiting laboratory.

MassChallenge is the largest-ever startup accelerator and the first to support high-impact, early-stage entrepreneurs without taking any equity. Its four-month accelerator program offers world-class mentorship, free office space, $1 million in cash awards, and up to $10 million through in-kind support. MassChallenge alumni have collectively raised over $360 million in outside funding, generated nearly $100 million in revenue, and created over 3,000 jobs since 2010.

CASIS Selects 8 Experiments from MassChallenge Startup Accelerator

casis_new_logoKENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FL., October 31, 2013 (CASIS PR) – The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS), the nonprofit organization promoting and managing research and technology development onboard the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory, announced last night in Boston, MA that it has selected eight startup companies to conduct research onboard the ISS through the MassChallenge Startup Accelerator. In total, CASIS will award $450,000 to assist these companies in using the ISS to advance their business applications and products.

CASIS, MassChallenge to Sponsor ISS Research
