Northrop Grumman Taps Solstar Space to Provide Wireless Access Points for HALO Module of NASA’s Lunar Gateway

Supporting Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems (NGIS) and NASA’s Artemis program, Solstar Space will develop the WiFi Access Points that will be utilized for communications aboard HALO.

SANTA FE, N.M., July 19, 2022  (Solstar Space PR) — Solstar Space (Solstar), the company making persistent in-orbit communications available, and Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC), announced Solstar will provide the Wireless Access Points that will be used on NASA’s Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) module planned for launch in 2024.

Lonestar to Place Data Centers on the Moon

The Edge of the Cloud is Now in Space

Lonestar successfully completes data storage and edge processing test as part of the first ever software defined payload sent to the International Space Station

St. Petersburg, Fla., February 3, 2022 (Lonestar Data Holdings PR) — Lonestar Data Holdings Inc. (Lonestar) announces the first ever software defined payload sent to the International Space Station (ISS) enabling successful data storage and edge processing tests on the ISS. 

The first software defined payload was sent to the ISS December 17th 2021. Crucially, it leveraged existing hardware on the ISS retasking an existing computer server on board to become an edge of network node. The server was reconfigured to launch a Canonical Ubuntu virtual machine that stored data and ran an application that blockchained the results, which were sent back to Earth.

ICEYE US Hires New CEO, Ramps Up American Manufacturing and Operations

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 29, 2020 (ICEYE PR) – ICEYE, the global leader in small satellite synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) technology, today announced that Jerry Welsh, who joined ICEYE in 2017 as COO/CFO, will take on the CEO role for ICEYE US.

Welsh, an operations and technology expert who specializes in scale-up strategy recently oversaw the completion of ICEYE’s $87 million Series C financing. He will lead a team focused on deploying capital to scale operations and serve the needs of US customers.

Dr. Matossian most recently served for more than a decade in program management at Google, including carrying the responsibility of manufacturing and launch of the Terra Bella Earth imaging constellation. The hire marks a significant expansion in the US activities of ICEYE, including plans to extend satellite manufacturing to the US.
