CENTENNIAL, Colo., Sept. 21, 2021 (Sierra Nevada PR) – Global aerospace and national security company Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) concluded a successful two-year on-orbit research mission for U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The mission utilized SNC’s Demonstration and Science Experiments (DSX) spacecraft in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), and resulted in research and technologies that advance potential future deployment of Department of Defense (DoD) spacecraft in the harsh radiation environment of MEO. SNC is a longtime leader in the national security space domain; earlier this year the company transferred its civil and commercial space contracts to its new commercial space subsidiary, Sierra Space.

LOUISVILLE, Colo. (Sierra Space PR) — Sierra Space, the new commercial space subsidiary of global aerospace and national security leader Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), has named senior aerospace executive Tom Vice as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.

Tom Vice joins Sierra Space following an extensive career in aerospace, including most recently serving as CEO for Aerion Corporation. Prior to that, Vice served as president of Northrop Grumman’s Aerospace Systems sector, an $11B global advanced technology business with 23,000 team members. Aerospace Systems’ programs included space-based observatories, satellites, fully autonomous intelligent systems, hypersonic vehicles, and cybersecurity. Vice’s career at Northrop Grumman spanned 30 years in multiple executive leadership roles.

LOUISVILLE, Co., May 4, 2021 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), the global aerospace and national security leader, has entered into a Use Agreement for Space Florida’s Launch and Landing Facility (LLF) to land the Dream Chaser spaceplane in support of NASA’s Commercial Resupply Services-2 (CRS-2) contract. Dream Chaser, America’s Spaceplane, will service the International Space Station (ISS) under the CRS-2 contract in 2022.

Crewed Dream Chaser® Spaceplane to Shuttle Private Astronauts

The space station is a configuration of multiple large inflatable LIFE  habitats that can be serviced by both cargo and crew carrying Dream Chaser spaceplanes.

Sierra Nevada Wins NASA Contract to Power Water-Seeking VIPER Lunar Rover
NASA’s Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover, or VIPER, is a mobile robot that will roam around the Moon’s south pole looking for water ice. The VIPER mission will give us surface-level detail of where the water is and how much is available for us to use. This will bring us a significant step closer towards NASA’s ultimate goal of a sustainable, long-term presence on the Moon – making it possible to eventually explore Mars and beyond. Ozmens’ SNC Dream Chaser® Spaceplane Closer to Commercial Runway Landing

SPARKS, Nev. February 8, 2021 (SNC PR) – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), the global aerospace and national security company owned by Eren and Fatih Ozmen, is a step closer to landing the world’s first commercial spaceplane on U.S. soil. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Commercial Space Transportation (AST) awarded the re-entry site license to Cape Canaveral Spaceport Shuttle Landing Facility (SLF) in Florida at request of the state’s aerospace economic development agency, making it the first commercially licensed re-entry site. Dream Chaser, America’s Spaceplane®, will service the International Space Station (ISS) under a NASA contract in 2022; the vehicle will return from the ISS to a runway landing for the first time since NASA’s space shuttle program ended in 2011.

Dynetics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos. SNC is responsible for providing key technologies and system integration of the crew module as part of the Dynetics-led HLS team.
