DARPA Selects SpaceLink to Participate in its Program to Connect the Proliferated Space Domain

MCLEAN, Va. (SpaceLink PR) — SpaceLink,  a company that provides secure data from any orbit, any time, announced it was selected by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Strategic Technology Office (STO) for a contract award. SpaceLink will participate in the Space-Based Adaptive Communications Node (Space-BACN) program designed to connect the proliferated space domain.

Of the six launches known to be scheduled to close out August, there’s only one – Artemis I — that truly matters in any real sense. The others will be duly recorded but little remembered in what could be the busiest launch year in human history.

The Past Week in Launches: SpaceX and CASC Orbit Satellites

It was a relatively quiet week for launches with by SpaceX and the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) both conducting one flight apiece.

SpaceX launched 53 Starlink broadband satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Friday. The company has launched 3,108 Starlink satellites with 2,809 spacecraft working, according to Jonathan’s Space Report.

Dragon Splashes Down With Scientific Cargo for Analysis

NASA MISSION UPDATE SpaceX’s uncrewed Dragon cargo spacecraft splashed down at 2:53 p.m. EDT Saturday, Aug. 20, north of Cape Canaveral off the Florida coast, marking the return of the company’s 25th contracted cargo resupply mission to the International Space Station for NASA. Navy Helicopters and Air Force Pararescue Forces Conduct Astronaut Recovery Exercise

PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo.  (U.S. Space Command PR) –  U.S. Space Command held an exercise Aug. 1-5 at Patrick Space Force Base, Fl., in preparation for the upcoming launch of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-5, targeted for no earlier than September 29, 2022.

As the Department of Defense’s Human Space Flight Support Manager, USSPACECOM coordinates global DoD support for the rescue and recovery of human exploration events for NASA’s Artemis and Commercial Crew Program missions.

The Future of ESRIC as Part of Luxembourg’s New Space Campus

Since 2016, the space sector in the Grand Duchy has been growing rapidly, with about 75 companies and research institutions active in the space sector and employing nearly 1,200 people.

LUXEMBOURG (ESRIC PR) — During a press conference on August 3, 2022, the Minister of Economy, Franz Fayot, and the Minister of Higher Education and Research, Claude Meisch, presented the vision for the future Space Campus which will be dedicated exclusively to the space sector.

The main site of the Space Campus will be located in Kockelscheuer, in the ParcLuxite. The site will house the headquarters of the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA) as well as activities directly related to space entrepreneurs and innovators. The new ground-breaking infrastructure, scheduled to be finalized by 2024 and operational in 2026, will be developed in accordance with best practices in environmental, urban mobility and human welfare.

Argos-4 Environmental, Wildlife Tracking Instrument Poised for Fall Launch

Space Campus: The Future Center of Gravity of Luxembourg’s Space Ecosystem

The creation of a Space Campus is a major milestone since the launch of the SpaceResources initiative in 2016 with the creation of the Luxembourg Space Agency in 2018, the launch of the interdisciplinary master in space at the University of Luxembourg in 2019 and the creation, in 2020, of the European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC) based in Luxembourg.

Launch Dates Set for Artemis I Mission

PARIS (ESA PR) — With the rocket now on the launchpad, the Artemis I Moon mission is getting real: 29 August is the first opportunity for the SLS rocket to blast off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center’s launchpad 39B in Florida, USA.

This first Artemis mission will put NASA’s Orion spacecraft and its European Service Module to the test during a journey beyond the Moon and back. The spacecraft will enter lunar orbit, using the Moon’s gravity to gain speed and propel itself almost half a million km from Earth – farther than any human-rated spacecraft has ever travelled.
