KMI Awarded Three Orbital Prime Contracts

MARQUETTE, Mich. (Kall Morris PR) – Kall Morris Inc (KMI), the orbital debris research and solution development company from Marquette, Michigan, is the recipient of three United States Space Force (USSF) research contracts through Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), worth $750,000 in total. These USSF SpaceWERX Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I projects are part of the Orbital Prime program to focus on the emerging market of ISAM. ISAM, acronym for In-space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing, is a joint commercial-government effort that KMI is supporting through their technologies and these awarded contracts. Each STTR awarded to KMI is being performed between KMI researchers and the respective teams at the University of Southern California (USC) Space Engineering Research Center (SERC), the Stanford University Biomimetics and Dexterous Manipulation Lab (BDML), or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AeroAstro).

Dawn Aerospace Spaceplane Ready for Rocket Powered Flight After Completing 48 Flights Using Jet Engines

Christchurch, New Zealand (Dawn Aerospace PR) — Dawn Aerospace has completed 48 flights over last 13 months of their spaceplane technology demonstrator, The Mk-II Aurora, to complete Phase One testing of the vehicle using surrogate jet engines. Tests of the vehicle under rocket power are expected before the end of the year.

  • ArianeGroup presents Susie (Smart Upper Stage for Innovative Exploration), an entirely reusable stage project which meets the future needs of transport and other missions to and in space.
  • Susie will be able to function as an automated freighter and carry out crewed missions with astronauts in complete safety, from lift-off to landing.
  • Susie replaces the launcher fairing and is designed to fly on an Ariane 64 as well as on a launcher of the following generation.
  • Unveiled for the first time at the International Astronautical Congress in Paris (IAC 2022), Susie is a concept aiming to support European space efforts in the coming decades. It is based on an in-depth study of Europe’s future needs in terms of space transport and on-orbit services (OOS), and on the need for a profound change in the approach to access to space.

NASA Astronaut Frank Rubio, Crewmates Arrive Safely at Space Station
