Momentus Announces Net Loss as Company Gears Up for Next Launch

In-space transportation company Momentus announced a net third quarter loss of $21.3 million on Tuesday as the company prepared for the launch of its next Vigoride space tug next month.

Momentus’ Q3 net loss was more than three times higher than the $5.6 million lost during the same period in 2021. The net loss for the first nine months was $71 million, down from $123.4 million for the first three quarters of last year. The company had cash and cash equivalents worth 81.6 million as of Sept. 30.

Spire Global Reports Increased Revenues, Narrows Loss

Spire Global reported record third quarter revenues that were 114 percent above those for the same period last year. The company also halved its net loss in Q3 2022 in comparison to the previous year.

Quarterly revenues totaled $20.4 million, double the $9.6 million earned in the third quarter of 2021. Total revenues for the first nine months of 2022 were $57.9 million, twice those for the same period last year.

LONG BEACH, Calif., November 09, 2022 (Rocket Lab PR) — Rocket Lab USA, Inc. (Nasdaq: RKLB) (“Rocket Lab” or “the Company”), a leading launch and space systems company, has been awarded two contracts worth a total of $14 million to provide satellite separation systems for companies building Space Development Agency’s (SDA) Tranche 1 Transport Layer (T1TL) satellites. Rocket Lab will supply more than 80 total Lightband Separation Systems (Lightbands) to prime contractor Lockheed Martin and another undisclosed customer, both of whom are manufacturing satellites for the SDA’s Tranche 1 Transport Layer.

Rocket Lab Selected by MDA to Deliver Satellite Operations Control Center for Globalstar Constellation

Rocket Lab Ramps Up Operations, But Profitability Remains Elusive as Company Spends to Develop New Booster

Rocket Lab CEO Peter Beck and CFO Adam Spice had reason to be upbeat on the company’s third quarter earnings call on Wednesday. The company has completed nine Electron launches this year, more than all the other small launch vehicles in the world combined. A tenth launch next month will be Rocket Lab’s first from a new launch complex in Virginia. And the company’s effort to diversify into manufacturing and supply satellites and spacecraft components had just been rewarded with a $14 million contract.

Inmarsat Government Selects Rocket Lab to Develop L-band Radio for NASA’s Communications Services Project

LONG BEACH, Calif. (Rocket Lab PR) — Rocket Lab USA, Inc. (Nasdaq: RKLB) (“Rocket Lab” or “the Company”), a leading launch and space systems company, today announced it has been selected by Inmarsat Government as partner to develop and manufacture an L-band radio in support of NASA’s Communications Services Project (CSP). CSP seeks to accelerate the development of commercial near-Earth communications services by partnering with satellite communications (SATCOM) providers. Rocket Lab will help enable Inmarsat’s InCommand, a real-time, near-Earth telemetry, command, and control (TT&C) service for satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) for the CSP with the Company’s new Frontier-L radio connecting to Inmarsat’s ELERA global L-band network in geosynchronous orbit (GEO).

BlackSky Reports Higher Revenues, Narrower Loss for 3rd Quarter

BlackSky Technology has announced that it increased revenues to $16.9 million in the third quarter, an increase of 113% over the same period last year, while narrowing its net loss to $13 million from $48 million in the second quarter.

Astra Space to Lay Off 16 Percent of Employees, Reports $199 Million 3rd Quarter Loss

Astra Space, which has experience more launch failures than successes, has announced plans to lay off 16 percent of its staff in the first quarter of next year as the company reported a third quarter net loss of $199.1 million.

“Given the challenging macroeconomic environment, we made the difficult but prudent decision to reduce our operating expenses to support our primary near-term objectives,” said Chairman and CEO Chris Kemp.

Class Action Fraud Lawsuit Against Richard Branson & Virgin Galactic to Proceed

Reuters reports that Richard Branson and Virgin Galactic will face a class action lawsuit from shareholders that they concealed problems with the company’s space program when announcing plans to take the company public in 2019, and that Branson later sold $301 million in stock two years later at inflated prices after false claims that his suborbital flight a month earlier had been flawless.
