Slingshot Aerospace Raises $40.85 Million in Oversubscribed Series A2 Funds to Bolster Orbital Tracking and Space Safety

AUSTIN, TX / EL SEGUNDO, Calif., December 6, 2022 (Slingshot Aerospace PR) — Slingshot Aerospace, Inc., a company building data and analytics products to make space operations safer, today announced that it has raised $40.85 million in an oversubscribed Series A2 funding round. The round was led by Sway Ventures and included participation from others, including C16 Ventures, ATX Venture Partners, Lockheed Martin Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, and Draper Associates, the global venture capital firm of prominent Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper. In addition to $40.85 million in equity funding, Horizon Technology Finance (NASDAQ: HRZN) provided a venture loan to accelerate Slingshot’s growth.

FINO MORNASCO, Italy (D-Orbit PR) — The space transportation and logistics company D-Orbit has announced the signing of a hosted payload contract with SpacePNT, a Swiss company specialized in the design and manufacturing of low cost high-accuracy GNSS receivers for the New Space satellite market.

SpaceX to Send Private Mission to Moon, Electron to Launch From MARS & 3 New Boosters Set for Maiden Flights

SpaceX is scheduled to launch a private mission to land on the moon and place a batch of broadband satellites for Starlink rival OneWeb, Rocket Lab will attempt its first launch from U.S. soil, and three new launch vehicles — two Chinese, one American — could make their maiden launches in the 10 days ahead.

Council and European Parliament Agree on Boosting Secure Communications with a New Satellite System

BRUSSELS (European Commission PR) — The Council and the European Parliament today reached a provisional agreement on a regulation establishing the EU’s secure connectivity programme for the period 2023-2027.

Safe and reliable communication is a cornerstone of the EU’s strategic autonomy. The secure connectivity programme will build a multi-orbital constellation of hundreds of satellites, which will cover the EU’s need for secure communication services and will underpin our position as one of the main players in space. More importantly, it will bring many benefits to citizens and their daily lives.
