CSA Selects Medical Doctor, Fighter Pilot as Astronauts

PRESS RELEASE

Nearly 25 years after the first Canadian astronaut flew into space and only weeks before two Canadian space veterans launch to the International Space Station, the Honourable Industry Minister Tony Clement and Canadian Space Agency (CSA) President Steve MacLean revealed the names of Canada’s newest astronauts.

Jeremy Hansen and David St-Jacques are the first Canadians to join the astronaut corps since 1992. They become the 11th and 12th Canadians to join the Canadian Astronaut Corps. Hansen is a Canadian Forces fighter pilot, St. Jacques is a medical doctor.

The Company posted a third quarter fiscal year 2009 net income of $3.6 million, or $0.21 per diluted share on revenue of $11.8 million compared with a third quarter fiscal year 2008 net loss of $0.8 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, on revenue of $6.6 million.

Atlantis Captures Hubble Space Telescope

NASA MISSION UPDATE The Hubble Space Telescope has been captured by space shuttle Atlantis’ robotic arm. Using views from a camera centered in a structure where the telescope will be berthed, McArthur will lower Hubble into a special cradle, called the Flight Support System, or FSS, in Atlantis’ payload bay. Russia to charge NASA $51 mln for seats on Soyuz spacecraft

Russia’s Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) and NASA have agreed on a new price for ferrying U.S. astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) after 2012, a Russian space official said on Wednesday.

NASA will now pay $51 million for a single seat on Soyuz spacecraft.

Masten Space’s Xombie Vehicle Completes First Flight

Masten Space Systems completed their first vertical take-off, vertical-landing (VTVL) rocket flight demonstration Friday. The demonstration proved out the design and controls of the 730lb rocket-powered vehicle, known as XA-0.1B-750 or “Xombie”, its internal nickname.
