The Twelfth International Mars Society Conference will be held from July 30 – August 2, 2009 at the University of Maryland, College Park. This will give participants to hear the latest news and research from Mars and to help advocate for sending humans to the Red Planet.

NASA robots soon will begin exploring the dusty, rocky terrain of a barren desert on Earth much like the moon. Scientists and engineers will study the images and information the robots gather to help plan where humans should venture next.

Liftoff of NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) and Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Spacecraft (LCROSS) is currently is scheduled for June 17 at 3:51 p.m. EDT. There are two more launch opportunities that day at 4:01 p.m. and 4:11 p.m.

Endeavour Postponed Unitl At Least Wednesday

NASA MISSION UPDATE

The launch of space shuttle Endeavour’s STS-127 mission to the International Space Station is on hold due to a leak associated with the gaseous hydrogen venting system outside the external fuel tank. The system is used to carry excess hydrogen safely away from the launch pad at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. At 12:26 a.m. EDT Saturday, managers officially scrubbed the launch for at least 96 hours.
