Intelsat Collaborates with Microsoft to Demonstrate Private Cellular Network Using Intelsat’s Global Satellite and Ground Network

WASHINGTON (Intelsat PR) — Intelsat, operator of one of the world’s largest and most advanced integrated satellite and terrestrial networks, today announced the successful demonstration of a first of its kind private cellular network with Microsoft Azure Private Multi-Access Edge Compute and FlexEnterprise, Intelsat’s satellite-based global connectivity service.

Held at Intelsat’s office in McLean, VA, the demonstration successfully establishes a reference architecture for deploying secure, high-performance private LTE and 5G networks and other cloud services over satellite networks to enterprise locations virtually anywhere globally, including those in remote and austere environments.

China Launches Two Rockets on Sunday

China launched two rockets with 23 satellite aboard on Sunday, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported. A Long March 4C launched the L-SAR 01B Earth observation satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The synthetic aperture radar satellite will provide data for land resources use, mapping, forestry, and disaster prevention and relief efforts. Webb Mirror Alignment Continues Successfully

GREENBELT, Md. (NASA PR) — Webb continues on its path to becoming a focused observatory. The team has successfully worked through the second and third out of seven total phases of mirror alignment. With the completion of these phases, called Segment Alignment and Image Stacking, the team will now begin making smaller adjustments to the positions of Webb’s mirrors.

Intelsat Announces Successful Emergence from Financial Restructuring Process

WASHINGTON (Intelsat PR) — Intelsat S.A. announced today that it has successfully completed and emerged from its financial restructuring process as a private company with a substantially strengthened capital structure to support its growth as the leader in satellite communications. This final milestone follows receipt of regulatory approvals, completion of certain corporate actions, and satisfaction of other customary conditions.

Intelsat’s now effective Plan of Reorganization, supported by all creditor groups and confirmed by the Bankruptcy Court on December 16, 2021, has reduced the Company’s debt by more than half, from approximately $16 billion to $7 billion.

Australian Government Commits AUS $65 Million to Fast Track Space Jobs and Technologies

CANBERRA, Australia (Scott Morrison/Steven Marshall PR) — The Morrison Government is injecting more than $65 million [USD $47 million] to get Australian technologies into space sooner and to make our nation a leading destination for launch.

Essential satellite for the nation’s most advanced weather observation and climate monitoring system

CAPE CANAVERAL SPACE FORCE STATION, Fla., Feb. 26, 2022 (ULA PR) – A United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket is in final preparations to launch the GOES-T mission for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NASA. The launch, managed by NASA’s Launch Services Program (LSP) based at Kennedy Space Center, is on track for March 1 from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Launch is planned for 4:38 p.m. EST. The live launch broadcast begins at 4:00 p.m. EST on March 1 at  www.ulalaunch.com.

Can HKATG Challenge SpaceX’s Starlink? Chinese Company Prepares For Golden Bauhinia Satellite Constellation

HONG KONG, Feb. 24, 2022 (HKATG PR) — HKATG [Hong Kong Aerospace Technology Group Limited ] has successfully launched five satellites for its ”Golden Bauhinia Constellation” in 2021, the aerospace development plan shows no sign of slowing down in 2022.

In January 2022, HKST announced that the Group has planned to launch two satellites named ”Golden Bauhinia Satellite No. 3” and ”Golden Bauhinia Satellite No. 4” in 2022 Q3, with the target launch time tentatively being scheduled in July 2022 and will continue to form and constitute part of the “Golden Bauhinia Constellation”.

At the same time, 25 satellites are planned to be launched in 2022 for the “Golden Bauhinia Constellation”, and the further launch of satellites this year will provide additional aerospace data as well as will boost the speed of receiving aerospace data. It’s worth noticing that “Golden Bauhinia Constellation” is the first-star chain plan of the Hong Kong aerospace industry, the whole project plans to launch 112 satellites.
