KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. (NASA PR) — The three American companies building next-generation spacecraft that NASA could call on to carry astronauts into orbit in the future will perform much of their work along Florida’s Space Coast, home of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program (CCP).
Advances made by these companies under newly signed Space Act Agreements (SAAs) through the agency’s Commercial Crew Integrated Capability (CCiCap) initiative are intended to lead to the availability of commercial human spaceflight services for government and commercial customers.
Atrius Holdings, LLC and Global Resource Energy, Inc. have failed to close contractually with Medusa Space for Mycroft Technology – contract is terminated.
Albuquerque, NM, August 16, 2012 (Medusa Space PR) –– Medusa Space, LLC executed an agreement with Atrius Holdings, LLC (Atrius) on July 5th to sell them 50% ownership of our Mycroft patent pending technology. Such agreement provided that a successful closing of escrow was to occur within 10 business days. Atrius then assigned the Agreement to Global Resource Energy, Inc. As of today, neither Atrius nor GBEN have closed the initial agreement, much less the follow on payments required. Several notices were provided to the companies and a final default notice with option to cure was issued by Medusa Space and ignored by the companies. Therefore the agreement is terminated due to lack of performance on the part of Atrius and/or GBEN.
WASHINGTON (NASA PR) — NASA has selected a team led by Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corporation of Boulder, Colo., for a technology demonstration of a high performance “green” propellant alternative to the highly toxic fuel hydrazine. With this award, NASA opens a new era of innovative and non-toxic green fuels that are less harmful to our environment, have fewer operational hazards, and decrease the complexity and cost of launch processing.
Cambridge, MA (Aurora PR) – Aurora Flight Sciences was recently selected by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) for the Phoenix program to explore development of a new satellite morphology through creation of “satlets” capable of harvesting key components from retired spacecraft in earth orbit.
The goal of the DARPA Phoenix program is to develop technologies to cooperatively harvest and re-use valuable components from retired, nonworking satellites in geostationary orbit and to demonstrate the ability to create new spacecraft systems at greatly reduced cost.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. (NASA PR) — NASA recently provided new details about its plans for certifying commercially developed spacecraft and launch systems that could support future crewed missions to the International Space Station.
“We’re spurring an industry capability to and from low Earth orbit and working to ensure the U.S. ends its reliance on foreign crew transportation to the space station,” said Ed Mango, program manager of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program (CCP). “We’ve decided now would be the best time to begin certification efforts to reduce the risk of technically challenging or costly redesigns to systems in the future.”
