It’s time for Congress to get off the dime and take action on the federal budget. Avoiding sequestration must be a priority to avoid a congressionally induced economic calamity for the Space Coast, Central Florida, and the nation.  Last year, with the failure of  the so-called Super Committee to agree to $1.2 trillion in deficit reduction, Congress decided the only way to cut spending was to put a gun to our head, called sequestration, under the assumption the result would be so unthinkable that surely consensus would be achieved to prevent that debacle.  Yet here we are, with a finger on the trigger and Washington doing nothing to avert disaster.

Mojave Visioning Workshop Set for this Weekend


Revitalize Mojave will be hosting a Community Visioning Workshop this Friday and Saturday that will allow residents and business owners to help plan the future of the town.

The two-day workshop will include hands-0n exercises in which participants will be able to help design a plan for revitalizing Mojave. The goal is to create a public vision for the town’s future and a list of projects and improvements that would need to be done to accomplish the vision.

Richard Branson says he’s flying on SpaceShipTwo by the end of next year. He also wants to be involved in setting up a colony on Mars, which he says people will be living in giant domes. And point-to-point travel will be coming at some point in his lifetime or his kids’ lifetimes.

WASHINGTON (NASA PR) — NASA has selected eight advanced robotics projects that will enable the agency’s future missions while supporting the Obama administration’s National Robotics Initiative.

The projects, ranging from technologies for improving robotic planetary rovers to humanoid robotic systems, will support the development and use of robots for space exploration, as well as by manufacturers and businesses in the United States.

Texas Space Alliance ‘Space for Texas’ Campaign
for the 2013 Texas Legislative Session

1. Space Business & Technology Development Zones: Intent – to attract space business to Texas and help develop space flight facilities. All space-related/space-supporting businesses in those zones will have their state Franchise tax reduced significantly, or eliminated.

  • Allocate portion of revenues to education funding & the Texas Spaceport Trust Fund
  • Passes Constitutionality test as it is not a state-wide industry franchise tax exemption
