EDWARDS AFB, Calif. (NASA PR) — NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden visited the agency’s Dryden Flight Research Center on Wednesday, May 22, taking the opportunity to see the Sierra Nevada Corporation’s (SNC) Dream Chaser test vehicle that had arrived at the center a week earlier.

Space industry safety experts called for more openness in the emerging suborbital space tourism market during a gathering in Montreal over the weekend:
Space-industry watchers expressed concern that the emerging space tourism sector is not being candid enough about the safety risks for travellers.
They voiced some concerns during a conference of the International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety, which held three days of meetings in Montreal.

Some time ago, in this blog, I wrote about a heated debate concerning a ‘cold potato’; back then, I discussed the relationship between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Union (EU). Germany does not support the current efforts to integrate ESA into the EU. We consider an intergovernmental European Space Agency to be necessary for a sustainable way of working. Time has passed, and the ‘cold potato’ has become a ‘dead horse’. It has been clear for some time that this integration is not only illogical, but also unworkable.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (Mars Society PR) — The Mars Society announced today that it is initiating an effort to conduct a one-year simulated human Mars exploration mission in the Canadian high Arctic at its Flashline Mars Arctic Research Station (FMARS).
Situated at 75 degrees north, roughly 900 miles from the North Pole, FMARS is located adjacent to a 20 kilometer meteor impact crater in the midst of a polar desert that is known to represent one of the most Mars-like environments on Earth.
