Hong Kong, July 8, 2013 (SXC PR) – Space Expedition Corporation (SXC) announced its expansion into Asia today, marking another milestone in the space tourism industry. The Asia division of the company–SXC Asia–will be responsible for all the sales and marketing initiatives in the region, including recruiting and training highly qualified Space Tourism Specialists. The head office will be based in Hong Kong. The expansion will strengthen SXC’s customer network in Asia, especially in Greater China, and take SXC one step closer to making space travel more accessible and affordable.

The New Indian Express reports that ISRO is facing a series of challenging missions over the next six months that officials hope will help vault the Indian space agency into the elite ranks of the world’s space powers. The missions include:
- test flight of a domestically developed cryogenic upper stage in August;
- launch of the nation’s first Martian spacecraft in late November; and,
- the inaugural flight in January of the new GSLV-III, the most powerful launch vehicle ever built by India.

WASHINGTON (NASA PR) –– NASA recently completed a major space technology development milestone by successfully testing a pressurized, large cryogenic propellant tank made of composite materials. The composite tank will enable the next generation of rockets and spacecraft needed for space exploration.
ITAR-TASS reports that Russian officials will be moving ahead with a plan to transform the nation’s space industry into a joint stock company:
Shortly after the tragic incident Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin declared plans for reforming the Russian space rocket industry and pooling its enterprises. “A decision has been made to create a special commission that will draft a presidential resolution to reform the space rocket industry,” Rogozin declared. As follows from what he said, some “unified integrated entity” will be in charge of all space rocket technologies soon. The proposed structure – likely to be called a United Space Rocket Corporation – will have the status of an open joint stock company, and not a state corporation.
OXFORD, England (Oxford University PR) — Galactic Unite, the non-profit collaboration between Virgin Galactic and Virgin Unite, has partnered with Oxford University to launch the Galactic Unite Joan Gillies Scholarship Programme. Applications are now open for the programme, which supports living costs for students undertaking their final year of the four-year Physics undergraduate degree at Oxford University.
