(CSF PR) — The Commercial Spaceflight Federation praises NASA for its announcement of three winners of their new innovative Lunar Cargo Transportation and Landing by Soft Touchdown (CATALYST) partnership program. Two awards were given to CSF Executive Member Companies Masten Space Systems and Moon Express, with the third going to Astrobotic Technology.
SWINDON, England 9 (UKSA PR) — The Government has today (30 April 2014) released 2 new policies that will shape the future of the UK’s growing space industry.
The Government Response to the Space Innovation and Growth Strategy (IGS) Action Plan 2014 – 2030 and the National Space Security Policy (NSSP) set out plans to achieve a £40 billion UK space industry by 2030 and a coherent approach to protecting the UK’s space assets.
Minister for Universities and Science, David Willetts said:

May 14-18 Event is Open to the Public with Paid Registration
Los Angeles, Calif., May 1, 2014 (ISDC PR) — The 33rd Annual International Space Development Conference (ISDC 2014) kicks off on Wednesday, May 14, for five days of presentations, panels, exhibits, lunches and dinners celebrating this year’s theme, “A Space Renaissance.”
ISDC is the yearly conference of the National Space Society (NSS), a nonprofit organization that has hosted the gathering since 1982. This year’s venue is the Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel, 6101 West Century Boulevard, conveniently located near Los Angeles International Airport.
Nine launches are scheduled worldwide for the month of May. The manifest includes three launches by American providers, three by Russia, one joint Russian-Ukrainian flight, and one launch each by Japan and Europe. The U.S. launches include six Orbcomm OG2 communications satellites by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, and a pair of military satellites to be launched by ULA’s Atlas V and Delta V rockets. So far, CubeSats have been used exclusively in Earth orbit. But, imagine a fleet of these tiny spacecraft fanning out to the moon and other deep-space destinations.
That’s what NASA has in mind. The space agency has just committed about $1.1 million to fund nine research projects that address different deep-space cubesat technologies. The funding is part of the NASA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Select Phase 1 grants announced earlier this week.
