
China conducted its first launch of the year on Monday when a Long March 2D rocket launched the classified Shiyan-13 satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center.
Chinese officials gave no details about the function of the satellite.
The launch occurred at 10:35 a.m. local time. A Chinese media report said that temperatures in the launch site area were as low as -37 Celsius (-34.6 Fahrenheit).
It was the 406th launch of the Long March series of launch vehicles.
