Holy carp look at that flight deck! Sexy! And a flight engineer station to boot! I wonder if Scaled is going to offer this as a design project like the Long EZ?

I almost did not recognize Mr Pence, he looks genuinely happy around those machines. I think Mike missed his true calling.

A design project like the Long EZ?

Funny idea. The thing is jaw dropping when you see it in person. The size and scale of it is incredible.

Latest scuttlebutt says it’s not going to fly for about two years and won’t be launching rockets for three. That could shorten but it’s going to be a real challenge to get off the ground.

I suspect that other cockpit position is for the launch engineer, not a flight engineer.

I asked myself the same thing, however if you had a flight engineer that’s a lot of software you don’t have to write. On a non production project like this, I’d think that would be a huge savings.

Yours is a reasonable idea. Scaled doesn’t write any software they don’t have to because of the expense, not only of writing it but of certifying it with the FAA. However, they’re likely using the controllers salvaged from the 747s where they got the engines. One thing is certain – they will have someone manning a launch control position. It just might not be the one shown in the photo.

For what its worth, his son is currently a pilot in the U.S. Marines.

I like his presidential stare. It’s perfect to to be stamped on a coin. Perhaps the penny? That way we’d go from a Lincoln to a …. Pence?
