moreland_partners1SAN FRANCISCO , October 16, 2015 (Moreland Partners PR) — Mooreland Partners the leading independent investment bank providing M&A and capital raising services to the global technology industry, today announced that it acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Planet Labs on its cross-border acquisition of Canadian-based BlackBridge Geomatics Corp., BlackBridge S.à.r.l. and BlackBridge, LLC, including the German RapidEye satellite constellation and the RapidEye imagery archive. The acquisition closed in September 2015. Terms were not disclosed. The acquisition helps Planet Labs expand quickly into new market segments and gain access to a robust imagery archive.

The Planet Labs acquisition of BlackBridge marks Mooreland Partners’ second transaction for a satellite services company in 2015. Earlier this year, Mooreland Partners advised Collecte Localisation Satellites (CLS) on its acquisition of Horizon Marine, Inc. “We are pleased to have completed two transactions in the satellite services sector, which is attracting incredible levels of attention and capital as commercial space craft and satellite operators revolutionize this fascinating industry,” said Rick Dalton, Managing Director, Mooreland Partners.

Based in San Francisco, Planet Labs operates a constellation of Earth-imaging satellites. Planet Labs is collecting a radical new data set with endless, real-world applications that includes measuring agricultural yields, monitoring natural resources, and aiding first responders after natural disasters, to name a few. Planet Labs provides businesses and humanitarian organizations global and local insights that currently are either impossible or cost-prohibitive to obtain.
