The Voyager Restaurant at the Mojave Air and Space Port will become “100 percent” better, with an improved menu, longer hours and Sunday service, its owner told the East Kern Airport District Board of Directors on Tuesday.

Apologizing for unspecified problems at the Voyager, Joudi Alsaady said he and his daughter would now be handling things personally at the restaurant. Alsaady also owns restaurants at airports in Lancaster, California City and Henderson, Nevada as well as a steak house in Lancaster.

“It’s my business and I should have run it better,” he told the board, adding he would do whatever it takes to improve service at the restaurant.

Alsaady said he would extend hours from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays during the summertime and reinstate service on Sundays. Weekend hours will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Voyager owner said he would add more items to the menu with daily specials. He will also start Friday barbecues beginning on April 13, the first one of which will be free. There will be some prices increases in the menu, which is the least expensive of all the restaurants, Alsaady said.

The last time I was at Voyager, the food was pretty good. That was a while though.

The more you raise your prices, the less business you will get. If you lower them, you guys will be rockstars! It is ridiculously priced already!
