Britain’s ever entertaining and intermittently reliable Sun tabloid (owned by Rupert “I Know Nothing” Murdoch and his equally out-of-the-loopy-doopy son) reports that new parents Beyonce and Jay-Z are looking to shoot a music video aboard Sir Richard Branson’s SpaceShipTwo suborbital tourism vehicle.
A source said: “The label people have been talking about making a music video in space. Beyonce and Jay-Z seemed the obvious option. Everything is being done to make it happen.”
I have no idea whether this is true or not. The source is anonymous, and the timing is a bit convenient. It’s almost as if its timed to cash in on news that Beyonce gave birth to her daughter, Blue Ivy, last Saturday. And who knows whether it will actually happen.
Whatever the case, I did note that reporter Harry Haydon made one, and quite possibly, two mistakes in an article that ran all of 142 words. First, he asserts that SpaceShipTwo will fly up to 70,000 feet when he likely meant 70,000 meters. Also, he says the musical power couple would experience six minutes of weightlessness. I’m not sure it’s quite that long, but I guess it depends on the flight profile.
