A Florida is looking to take the concept of fractional aircraft ownership to entirely new heights — space.

Aurora Aerospace is looking for investors with $100,000 to $1 million to spend to help it purchase one of XCOR’s Lynx suborbital vehicle on a fractional ownership basis, said company co-founder Howard Chipman. Investors would share in the profits from commercial operations and also have an opportunity to ride on the vehicle in accordance with their ownership shares.

The Florida-based company offers civilian space training out of the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. Aurora’s programs include high speed flights in a L-39 jet, zero-g parabolas in a Rockwell 700 aircraft, hypoxia-high altitude training, medical certification, and simulator training.

XCOR’s Lynx is a two-person space plane that will fly suborbital missions. The vehicle, which is now under development in California, is due to begin commercial operations out of the island of Curacao in 2014.
