Former NASA Admin O’Keefe Injured in Plane Crash
Former NASA Administrator Sean O’Keefe, who is now CEO of EADS North America, has reportedly survived a plane crash in Alaska that has taken the life of former Sen. Ted Stevens and four others.
O’Keefe, Stevens and seven other people were aboard the plane when it went down in bad weather on Monday evening. Survivors, including O’Keefe’s son Kevin, have been airlifted to a hospital in Anchorage, according to press reports.
Sources close to the family told NBC News that Sean O’Keefe suffered a broken pelvis and other bones and was expected to survive, as was his son.
O’Keefe served as NASA Administrator from 2001-05. He then spent three years as chancellor of Louisiana State University. In October 2009, European aerospace giant EADS tapped him to be CEO of its North American subsidiary.
