If the LCROSS Does Destroy the World, Don’t Bother Calling Back…

An actual story overheard here this evening at NASA Ames:

A concerned citizen called to inquire whether or not the LCROSS impact would destroy the Earth. The NASA official gave the person a 100 percent guarantee that this would not happen. The caller remained skeptical, however. The official finally informed the person that if this indeed somehow occurred, he would not be around in the morning to take this person’s follow-up call.
