Nelson: Nationwide Search Needed for Space Florida Prez

WDBO.com reports that Senator Bill Nelson has weighed in on Space Florida, whose embattled president, Steve Kohler, resigned yesterday:

U.S. Senator Bill Nelson is calling on Governor Charlie Crist to launch a nationwide search for a new director.

“It’s time to clean house and move ahead with an aggressive schedule for a commercial space industry,” argued Nelson, a former space shuttle astronaut.

Nelson also has earmarked $14 million in commercial space spending as part of the new NASA budget. This includes $5 million for launch pad 36, $5 million to upgrade Kennedy Space Center’s thermal vacuum chamber capabilities, and $4 million to help small aerospace businesses.
