Next Giant Leap to Take Next Small Step in Google Lunar X Prize

The Mystery Team has been unveiled, and it’s an impressive group. Partners in the newly revealed Next Giant Leap team include:

• MicroSat Systems, a subsidiary of Sierra Nevada Corp.;
• MIT Space Systems Laboratory;
• Charles Stark Draper Laboratory
• Aurora Flight Services Corp.
• Busek Company, Inc.

Wow. That’s like an Ocean’s 11 for space. Minus six, I guess.

The Deadwood, SD-based team will be competing with 15 other groups for a $30 million prize to land a rover on the lunar surface. The prize is being sponsored by the X Prize Foundation and Internet giant Google.
