AMSTERDAM (Spacebit/Wevolver PR) — The Spacebit Engineering Challenge enables engineers around the world to contribute to the development of “Asagumo 2.0”, a four-legged walking rover that is set to fly to the Moon with the NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program in 2021 and 2022.

The challenge was catalyzed by the recent partnership agreement signed between UK-based Spacebit and the engineering community platform, Wevolver.


Mission Patch Revealed for Astrobotic’s Peregrine Mission One

Set to launch later this year, the Peregrine team reveals a meaningful mission patch design for the world’s first commercial lunar landing

PITTSBURGH (Astrobotic PR ) — Astrobotic’s Peregrine Mission One (PM1) is set to be the first US lander (and first commercial lunar lander) to touch down on the Moon since the Apollo missions more than 50 years ago. In anticipation of Peregrine’s launch into space later this year, Astrobotic has released a commemorative mission patch filled with some meaningful Easter (or more appropriately, peregrine) eggs.

The focal point of the patch is the peregrine falcon, majestically jetting towards its lunar destination. There are seven craters in the patch’s Moon design, representing the seven nations that are joining Astrobotic on its mission. The phase on the patch’s Moon graphic matches the real Moon’s phase that people will see at the time of Peregrine’s touchdown.


Astrobotic, Spacebit Announce Agreement to Land First UK Commercial Payload on Moon

Newport, South Wales, UK (Spacebit/Astrobotic PR) – Spacebit proudly announces at The UK Space Conference 2019 their signing of a joint agreement with Astrobotic to begin commercial and scientific lunar exploration with the first mission in 2021 on the Peregrine lunar lander.

Astrobotic’s Peregrine lunar lander will be launched on a Vulcan Centaur rocket from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The launch will carry the first lunar lander from American soil since Apollo.
