Prestwick Spaceport to Accelerate Launch Hub Plans During World’s Largest Airshow

EDINBURGH, UK, July 18, 2022 (Prestwick Spaceport PR) — Representatives from Prestwick Spaceport are set to meet with stakeholders from across the global space industry, commerce, academia and government at this week’s Farnborough International Airshow, to accelerate plans to become Europe’s premier space launch location. Prestwick Spaceport will have a major presence alongside partners with Space Scotland as part of a dedicated Space Zone at the world’s biggest airshow at Farnborough 18-22 July.

Prestwick Spaceport Files Planning Application Notice

Prestwick, Scotland (Prestwick Spaceport PR) — South Ayrshire Council has started the process of submitting a formal planning application for the Prestwick Spaceport development. The Proposal of Application Notice (POAN) is the first step in the planning process for Prestwick Spaceport and signals the intent to apply for planning permission in early 2022.

The submission of the POAN follows the Council’s submission of an Environmental Impact Assessment Screening Report last year which confirms that Prestwick’s space ambitions will not result in any significant adverse effects to the environment.

Multi-Million Pound Funding Package Pledged for UK Space Centre of Excellence in Ayrshire, Scotland

AYR, Scotland (South Ayrshire Council PR) — A commitment to invest over £80 million [$106.3 million] in a UK Space Centre of Excellence in Ayrshire, was made by both UK and Scottish Governments, in partnership with South Ayrshire Council, as part of the Ayrshire Growth Deal signing.

The funding package will develop and support a wide range of new, cutting-edge aerospace and space activities around Glasgow Prestwick Airport, including a satellite launch site and a range of other advanced technology initiatives beyond space launch.
