INNOSPACE Signs Technology Agreement with Brazil for Suborbital Rocket Flight Test From Alcantara

The launch of the first civilian test launch vehicle, the “HANBIT-TLV”, is planned for the fourth quarter of 2022.

BRASILIA (AEB PR) — INNOSPACE, a South Korean space startup manufacturer of small launch vehicles, has signed an agreement with the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA) to launch SISNAV, an inertial navigation system project supported by the Financier of Studies and Projects ( Finep) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI) and by the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB).

“Alcântara Spaceport has the conditions to host various activities related to space activity, which go beyond placing satellites in Earth orbit. In this case, we have the exemplary situation in which both a vehicle and an inertial system will be tested, both under development. We are sure that this initiative by DCTA and INNOSPACE will open a new chapter in our history of access to space”, said AEB President Carlos Moura.

Brazil will have Companies Operating at Alcântara Spaceport in 2022

BRASILIA, Brazil (AEB PR) — Started 20 years ago, the process of creating a spaceport — a facility that allows the launch and landing of vehicles and space modules, manned or not — is close to being completed in Brazil, said Colonel Carlos Augusto Moura, president of the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), in an interview with the program A Voz do Brasil today (14 March).

Mercosur United by Space Law

BRASILIA (AEB PR) — The Brazilian Space Agency (AEB) participated in the closing ceremony of the course on “Law and Cooperation in the Space Area”, promoted by the Organizzazione Internazionale Italo-Latino Americana (IILA), this Thursday (2). The course was held between November 9th and December 2nd, and was aimed at space agencies and professionals from Mercosur countries. The event was attended by the president of the AEB, Carlos Moura, as well as directors of space agencies from several countries.

“We have a lot of synergy, many challenges and goals in common, with which we can work together to bring solutions and progress to our peoples,” said Carlos.

Brazil Successfully Tests S50 Rocket Engine for Microsat Launcher

This is an important step for the Brazilian Space Program, which will now advance in the construction of its Microsatellite Launch Vehicle (VLM) and VS-50.

BRASILIA, Brazil (AEB PR) — The test of the S50, which took place this Friday (1st), at a unit of the Institute of Aeronautics and Space (IAE), was a success. The engineers present were very happy with the results. Among the various authorities were the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), Marcos Pontes, the president of the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), Carlos Moura, the director of the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), Lieutenant Brigadier from the air Hudson Costa Potiguara, the director of the Aeronautics and Space Institute (IAE), brigadier air O`Donnell, and the president of the Aerospace Industries Association of Brazil (AIAB), Julio Shidara, as well as representatives of the national industry, for middle of Avibrás.

BRASILIA, Brazil (AEB PR) — After the approval of the Technological Safeguards Agreement by the federal government, in January 2020, the joint work for the development of the Brazilian Space Program continued. With the creation of the Integrated Development Commission for the Alcântara Space Center (CDI-CEA), on August 13, 2020, through Decree No. 10,458, the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), an autarchy linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI) and coordinator of the Commission, seeks partnerships, including in the state of Maranhão.

NASA Administrator Signs Statement of Intent with Brazil on Artemis Cooperation

WASHINGTON (NASA PR) — NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine and the Government of Brazil Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) Marcos Pontes signed a joint statement of intent during a virtual meeting on Dec. 14, 2020. The statement describes Brazil’s intention to be the first country in South America to sign the Artemis Accords. Brazil has expressed interest in potentially contributing a robotic lunar rover – in addition to conducting lunar science experiments and other investigations – as part of NASA’s Artemis program.

Brazilian Space Sector Among Priorities of Northeast Constitutional Financing Fund for 2021

BRASILIA, Brazil (AEB PR) — The space sector was included among the guidelines and priorities for the applications of the Constitutional Fund for Financing in the Northeast (FNE) 2021. Administered by Banco do Nordeste, the special financing line will be important for the installation of companies in the space sector in the Alcântara region, in Maranhão.

The indication for the allocation of resources was made possible after the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), an autarchy linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI), and the Northeast Development Superintendence (SUDENE) discussed the importance of including the space sector among the strategic areas to receive investments in 2021. Which will have an impact on the promotion and development of the Northeast region in the coming years.

BRASILIA (AEB PR) — The Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovations, Marcos Pontes, the President of the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), Carlos Moura conducted, on Wednesday (09/02), the first Meeting of the Integrated Development Commission for the Alcântara Space Center (CDI-CEA).

Also participating in the meeting were the Director of Space Policy and Strategic Investments of AEB, Cristiano Trein, and representatives of the Ministry of Defense (MD), the Ministry of Infrastructure (Minfra), the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR), the Security Office Institutional of the Presidency of the Republic (GSI / PR), of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (SGPR), of the Air Force Command (COMAER) and of the Advocacy – General of the Union.

Brazilian Space Agency Receives 14 Proposals for Use of Alcantara Spaceport

BRASILIA (AEB PR) — The Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), an autarchy linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI), informs that companies registered in the Public Call aimed at carrying out launch activities using the Alcântara Space Center (CEA) in Maranhão, you have until 5 pm (Brasília time), on August 31, 2020, to send your proposals for analysis. Altogether 14 companies signed up.

 The proposals will be verified by the Special Analysis Commission, formed by members of the AEB and the Air Force Command (COMAER). The commission was created through an act by the President of AEB, Carlos Moura. CEA may be used in launch operations from 2021.
