Sumitomo Corporation to Explore Commercial Space Development Upon its 100th Anniversary

TOKYO (ispace PR) – Sumitomo Corporation, a 100-year old Japanese trading company and one of the world’s largest general trading companies, and ispace, inc. (“ispace”), a lunar exploration company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, are pleased to jointly announce that Sumitomo Corporation has become a Corporate Partner of HAKUTO-R, the world’s first commercial lunar exploration program. ispace Makes Mission Timeline Adjustments for HAKUTO-R Lunar Program

TOKYO, August 22, 2019 (ispace PR) – ispace, inc. (“ispace”), a lunar exploration company, announced an adjusted mission schedule for its HAKUTO-R program, a commercial lunar exploration program consisting of the company’s first two lunar missions. The schedule includes a lunar landing in 2021 for Mission 1, and a landing and deployment of a rover for surface exploration in 2023 for Mission 2.

ispace to Launch Lunar Missions on SpaceX Falcon 9 in 2020, 2021

TOKYO, September 26, 2018 (ispace PR) – ispace, a company developing robotics for lunar delivery and resource exploration, announced today that SpaceX will be the launch provider for its maiden voyages to the Moon scheduled for 2020 and 2021. The company’s first two lunar missions will be carried out under the program name HAKUTO-R, standing for “Reboot”, a reference to ispace’s management of HAKUTO, a Google Lunar XPRIZE competition finalist.
