ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (Roscosmos PR) — At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Roscosmos State Corporation, Rosatom State Corporation, Rostelecom and Gazprom Neft approved a memorandum of cooperation in order to create an Association of the largest consumers of software and equipment. The document was signed by Dmitry Rogozin, Director General of Roscosmos State Corporation, Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, Mikhail Oseevsky, President of Rostelecom, and Alexander Dyukov, Chairman of the Gazprom Neft Management Board. Cooperation of the largest technology companies from various industries is aimed at developing the Russian IT solutions market.
The Association will unite the efforts of partners in interaction with government regulators, software developers and equipment suppliers. In addition, the participants will work on the formation of requirements for software and technologies, help manufacturers to improve products and increase their competitiveness.
The association’s activities additionally optimize the costs of companies and state corporations for the search and testing of new domestic IT solutions. An increase in demand for such developments, in turn, will allow IT companies to increase investments in the development of their projects and services due to the prospect of widespread implementation – from oil production and nuclear energy to telecommunications and projects in the aerospace sector.
“Today, the nuclear industry, as well as other backbone industries, faces important government tasks that require breakthrough solutions in the field of information technology. Rosatom is already taking important steps to create and implement them; we have developed best practices that we are ready to share with other market participants. On the other hand, it is important to consolidate the efforts of large customers, which is necessary to ensure that the market for IT products is replenished with competitive and really demanded programs and equipment. That is why we initiated the creation of a professional consumer community, which, I am sure, will become an effective tool for the development of the domestic IT market and will help systematize and develop cooperation between suppliers, customers of IT solutions, as well as government regulators,” said Alexey Likhachev , General Director of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom
“Consolidation of efforts of the largest Russian companies is a strategically important step in the development of the domestic IT market. We see the association’s tasks as creating a real tool for building long-term relationships with domestic developers, as well as supporting and replicating Russian IT products. I am sure this will give an impetus to the development of the information technology sector and will allow to ensure, among other things, the entry of promising Russian companies to foreign markets,” commented Mikhail Oseevsky, President of PJSC Rostelecom.
“Gazprom Neft, like our partners in the Association, annually forms a large order for IT sector services, and also develops its own competencies in this area. Therefore, we are directly interested in the creation of competitive software in Russia to solve those ambitious tasks facing the oil industry and other sectors of the Russian economy. The Association, as we expect, will become a platform for dialogue between large industrial customers and the IT sector, where we can set common goals for the development of the Russian software market and jointly decide how they can be most effectively achieved, ” said Alexander Dyukov, Chairman of the Board Gazprom Neft.
“The Association will allow the largest consumers to establish a dialogue with software developers: on a single platform, its members will be able to formulate requirements for IT solutions, and developers will more quickly receive feedback on the results of their testing. In addition, closer interaction on the basis of the association will make it possible to formulate a consolidated position on the further digitalization of the Russian economy, ”noted Dmitry Rogozin, General Director of the State Corporation Roscosmos.
