In the course of the already traditional final meeting, the main areas of work were reviewed, the results were summarized, and plans for 2019 were outlined. Igor Arbuzov, Director General of NPO Energomash, in his speech noted that in manned programs Russia still maintains a monopoly on the delivery of crews to the International Space Station. Four launches of the Soyuz-FG launch vehicle in 2018 provided for a total of 20 engines of NPO Energomash JSC of the RD-107/108 family at the first and second stages. In total, in 2018, Russia carried out 22 launches of launch vehicles (including 3 launches of the Soyuz-ST PH from the spaceport in French Guiana). “24 start-ups were performed using engines developed by NPO Energomash.
In addition, the engines of the development and production of NPO Energomash provided five launches of the American Atlas launch vehicle and two launches of the Antares launch vehicle, ”said Igor Arbuzov. Of the main trends in 2018, Igor Arbuzov noted an increase in the number of launches of launch vehicles in the United States (SpaceX) and in China, 31 and 39 launches, respectively, adding that Russia ranks third – 22 launches. In addition, most of the countries of the space powers, and Russia is no exception, are already working on the creation of a super-heavy rocket for the exploration of the moon and near-moon space.
According to the general director, in order to ensure their competitiveness in the global market, it is necessary to learn how to make products quickly and cheaply: “to create tools for designing taxiways using modern technologies, to carry out technical re-equipment for fast and high-quality engine production. The key in this work will be the introduction of digital transformation processes, Industry 4.0, which requires a change in the very principles of doing business. NPO Energomash specialists must be able to work with digital resources, collect and process global data flows. Today, a digital culture is being introduced in the enterprise and employees must be ready to accept it. “American, Chinese, European companies have long existed in these processes, NPO Energomash is still at an early stage,
Another important task for the enterprise for 2019 is to reduce the cost of products. In 2018, NPO Energomash carried out systematic work to reduce the cost of purchasing materials, energy resources, reducing overhead costs and in many areas succeeded. In 2019, special emphasis will be placed on productivity growth. “We need labor productivity growth of 10% annually, the director said, and this year this task will be implemented.” In conclusion of his speech, Igor Arbuzov called on all employees to take an active part in the changes taking place at the enterprise, to come up with initiatives, to propose ideas, since it depends on everyone today how successful tomorrow will be.
