Cotton Seedlings Grow on Moon Aboard China’s Chang’e-4 Lander

CORRECTION: Apparently these photos are from the control experiment back on Earth. The seeds and other materials on the moon have since died having been exposed to the frigid temperatures of the lunar night.

Reminds me of the intro and end of “The Jerk” with Steve Martin. I wonder when the first Moon workers will be harvesting that cotton, if they sing this song…

Perhaps there will be a future market among the Western glitterati for ultra-expensive super-high thread count sheets woven from Chinese long-staple cotton grown on the Moon. People who readily spend the price of a very decently appointed car on a single “must-have” handbag would doubtless also line up to be similarly skinned by Chinese bed linen merchants. Gwyneth? Katy? Kim? Paris? Any interest?
