Leonard Nimoy — Spock of Star Trek — has died at age 83.

Above is his last Tweet.

The perfect moments he gave us on film are his gift to us. They will be preserved forever.

Thank you, Leonard, for entertaining and inspiring me and millions of others with a vision of what we could be.

May The Force be with him.

Oh that cannot be true! Mr. Nimoy has leaved us, but Spock lives forever! A character that contributed much to the fact that I became as child of six or seven years fascinated by space travel.

Same here. I remember watching Star Trek with my Dad back when I was 8 or 9 years old. I doubt if he knew what an impact that would have on me.

Watching Neil Armstrong was memorable, of course, but I really think Star Trek had just as much influence on what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Thank you for your reply. I viewed Star Trek (“Raumschiff Enterprise”) always Saturday evening (after taking a hot bath – once a week) on white-black TV-set, but the reception was not always good, so that my father was forced to turn the antenna on the house’s roof in a better working direction.

It was like a short sci-fi fim coming to your house every week. To explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life, new civilizations…
