Mojave Visioning Workshop Set for this Weekend

Revitalize Mojave will be hosting a Community Visioning Workshop this Friday and Saturday that will allow residents and business owners to help plan the future of the town.

The two-day workshop will include hands-0n exercises in which participants will be able to help design a plan for revitalizing Mojave. The goal is to create a public vision for the town’s future and a list of projects and improvements that would need to be done to accomplish the vision.

The workshop will begin on Friday, Sept. 21 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mojave Veterans Building. That evening, planners and consultants will take the inputs and develop the first draft of a plan. Participants will be able to review and change the plan during a second session on Saturday morning from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The plan will provide a guide for Mojave’s future development. It will also allow Mojave to apply for grants from Kern County to fund improvements.

The Mojave Chamber of Commerce is leading the revitalization effort with assistance from Kern County. The Kern County Planning and Community Development Department will be leading the workshop this weekend. County Supervisor Zack Scrivner, whose office has been working closely with Revitalize Mojave, will be on hand for the event.
