The judges of the Northrop Grumman Lunar Lander Challenge have agreed to let Masten Space Systems make another attempt at qualifying for Level 2 of the prize on Friday morning. A Twitter update from the Google Lunar X Prize states at just after 10 p.m. PT:

RT @glxp: Through unanimous decision of the Official Judges, @mastenspace will get their last shot @ #NGLLC Lv 2 tomorrow. @unrocket starts in the PM

Masten’s Xoie lander flew the outbound leg of a flight successfully on Thursday. However, vehicle suffered damage due to a small fire that prevented it from flying a return leg. Engineers are making repairs tonight in hopes of flying tomorrow morning.

Masten originally had two days to make the attempt. Xoie flew on the last scheduled launch window of the second day. The prize competition window closes on Saturday, Oct. 31.

The decision bumps an attempt by Unreasonable Rocket to Friday afternoon. Unreasonable has launch windows on Saturday as well.
